About - Yeck Division

In 2016 the Southern Ontario Junior Hockey League joined the other seven Junior C leagues in the Ontario Hockey Association to create the Provincial Junior Hockey League (PJHL) and was renamed the Yeck Division. The Yeck Division is part of the West Conference along with the Stobbs Division.

The Yeck Division was named after Don Yeck who was a special volunteer and friend to the OHA, the Ontario Hockey Federation and minor hockey groups.

The Southern Ontario Junior Hockey League was founded in the 1960s as the Shamrock Junior D Hockey League. In 1969, the League changed its name to the Western Junior D Hockey League. In 1991, the league became the OHA Junior Development League and in 2006 renamed itself the Southern Ontario Junior Hockey League (SOJHL).

At the beginning of the 2012-2013 season, the SOJHL moved from Junior D to Junior C and in the following off-season the SOJHL and overlapping Niagara & District Junior C Hockey League (NDJCHL) realigned a number of teams and created the Midwestern Junior C Hockey League (MWJCHL). The easterly teams of the SOJHL and westerly teams of the NDJCHL joined together to play in the newly formed MWJCHL. The 27 teams that were previously spread across two leagues were now realigned into 3 leagues, the MWJCHL, NDJCHL and the SOJHL who went from 15 teams to 9.
